Ford Focus ST Edition Debuts As Track-Focused Hot Hatch

Less than a year after the refreshed 2022 Ford Focus officially debuted, The Blue Oval announced that the beloved, long-running model would be discontinued in 2025 as European consumers continue to gravitate toward crossovers and SUVs. That still holds true today, as the Saarlouis Assembly plant in Germany will stop building new Focus models next year, even as the automaker plans to keep that facility open until 2032 with a greatly reduced workforce. Regardless, it seems as if FoMoCo isn’t done launching new variants, as it just revealed the updated Ford Focus ST Edition.

The Ford Focus ST Edition – available only as a five-door hatchback – is instantly recognizable thanks to its Azura Blue exterior paint and high gloss black details that include 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels that reduce unsprung mass by 10 percent, as well as the roof, rear spoiler and diffuser, door mirrors, and ST badge surrounds. Inside the cabin, one will also find Motion Blue stitching adorning the Ford Performance seats, steering wheel, gear shift gaiter, center console knee pads, and floor mats.

The updated Ford Focus ST Edition comes equipped with the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost engine, which in this guise is rated to produce 276 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox, resulting in a 0-62 mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. Underneath, the hot hatch utilizes a specially-tuned two-way adjustable coilover suspension system developed by KW Automotive, which lowers the car by between 10mm and 20mm compared to the standard Focus ST.

“The new Focus ST Edition represents the best of Ford Performance in a usable, everyday package,” said Stefan Muenzinger, Ford Performance manager, Europe. “Sports Technologies mean drivers don’t have to compromise on versatility but can still enjoy the thrill of a track day.”
