Following a bit of a delay, order banks for the all-new Ford Mustang officially opened up in Europe in early February, though interestingly, only for GT and Dark Horse models powered by the naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8 Coyote engine – not the EcoBoost – and the Performance Package as standard equipment. Now, however, European pony car fans will have a couple of other options available to them, as FoMoCo has announced that the Ford Mustang California Special and the Nite Pony Package will now be available in that region, too.
The latest iteration of the Ford Mustang California Special was revealed for North America last November, paying tribute to a special edition that originally debuted back in 1968. The European version of this model is largely identical to the U.S. version, meaning that it features a variety of Rave Blue accents adorning the 19-inch wheels, badging, and nostril intakes, which are part of a new horizontal-slat grille with low gloss black strakes. The headlights are surrounded by black bezels, while Medium Light Rave Blue and High- and Low-Gloss Black California Special logos are present on the lower body sides.
Those blue accents continue inside the cabin, where the 2024 Mustang GT California Special is equipped with perforated Navy Pier upholstery and Ebony Black leather seats, along with Raptor Blue and Metal Gray contrast stitching in various places throughout the cabin, plus a California Special IP badge and GT/CS floor mats. Customers can opt for either a six-speed manual or the 10-speed automatic transmission, though only as a convertible in this particular part of the world, even though Americans can spec it in coupe form as well.
As for the Nite Pony Package – which is available on both the GT coupe and convertible with a manual or automatic transmission – it adds a host of darkened elements to the popular pony car, including an Ebony Black-painted roof, alloy wheels, mirror caps, and headlamp bezels, as well as black front and rear pony badges.
