The Ford Puma has long been a stalwart on the list of Europe’s best-selling vehicles, ranking in the top 25 in that region in January and February, while also topping the UK’s sales charts in March. Thus, it’s not a huge surprise to learn that the Ford Puma held down its position as one of Europe’s top-selling new vehicles in March as well – though this time around, it made a rather significant move up the charts, according to new data from JATO Dynamics.
After landing in 18th place in February with 11,745 units sold, the Ford Puma moved up to ninth after logging 19,077 sales, which is also a year-over-year increase of 26 percent. That ranked the Puma behind only the Tesla Model Y, Volkswagen Golf, Dacia Sandero, Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Citroen C3, and Volkswagen T-Roc.
However, the news wasn’t quite as positive for the overall European new vehicle market in March, as registrations declined by 2.7 percent year-over-year to 1,377,541 units. Thanks to some early growth, registrations for the entirety of Q1 2024 were actually up 4.8 percent versus Q1 2023, however, totaling 3,380,048 units.
At the same time, the Puma has plenty of momentum as the refreshed 2024 model was just unveiled this past February, ushering in a few updates for the popular crossover. The 2024 Puma only features a few small exterior styling updates – which include new headlights – though inside the cabin, the Puma gains a larger 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster and 12-inch infotainment screen running SYNC 4 software. In terms of powertrains, the 2024 Ford Puma comes with the 1.0L I-3 EcoBoost gas engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system to generate either 125 PS (153 horsepower) or 155 (153 horsepower) PS, or 170 PS (168 horsepower) for the Puma ST Powershift model.
