Production of the redesigned 2023 Ford Super Duty faced its fair share of challenges last year for a variety of reasons ranging from a new series of quality checks completed by the automaker itself to the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike that directly impacted the Kentucky Truck Plant for a few weeks. Following those proverbial bumps in the road, Super Duty production experienced its fair share of ups and downs through the remainder of 2023 before things improved in the month of January and stayed largely flat in February. Now, with another month in the rearview, we can see that Ford Super Duty production increased in March, according to FoMoCo’s Q1 2024 sales report.
In February, Ford Super Duty production at the Kentucky plant totaled 30,570 units – a decrease of 410 units or 1.3 percent versus January – and 2,867 at the Ohio Assembly plant, which was 357 units or 14 percent more than the month prior. Total Super Duty production reached 33,437 units that month, which represented a slight decrease of 53 units or 0.15 percent.
Last month, those figures improved at both plants, however. In Kentucky, Ford Super Duty production finished March at 33,286 units, which is a month-over-month increase of 2,716 units or nearly nine percent. At the Ohio plant, production grew from 2,867 units to 3,542, improving by 675 units or more than 23 percent. This means that total Super Duty production in March improved by 3,391 units or just over 10 percent.
Coming off a total redesign for the 2023 model year, the 2024 Ford Super Duty hasn’t received that many changes, aside from the addition of two new exterior colors – Glacier Gray and Darkened Bronze – though notably, both the XL and XLT trims are also gaining Ford’s Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch features as an available option.
