Though it’s on the cusp of a midcycle refresh, the 2024 Ford Expedition entered the latest model year largely unchanged. Now, Ford Authority walks you through each of the nine wheel options available for the full-size SUV, right down to trim level and package, in the following breakdown.
The first wheels on the list are the 17-inch Steel wheels. This utilitarian set of rollers is available exclusively on the Expedition SSV (Special Service Vehicle), also known as the police variant. Next, the 18-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with Magnetic-painted pockets are available as part of the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow package offered on the XL SSV, while they are also offered as a standalone option on the same trim. As for the “regular” Expedition, these wheels are standard on the base XL and XLT trims.
Next, the Expedition Timberline gets the 18-inch Ebony-painted wheels as standard. Meanwhile, the 22-inch six-spoke Polished aluminum wheels are optional on Platinum trims and standard on King Ranch, with the former sporting Blue Oval branded hubcaps and the latter special King Ranch branded hubcaps.
The 20-inch six-spoke Gloss Black-painted wheels are optional on XLT as a standalone choice or as part of the Black Accent Package, while the 20-inch Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels are also optional on XLT models. The 20-inch Bright Machined aluminum wheels with Dark Gray painted pockets are included as part of the Special Edition Package, and are standard on Limited models.
Finally, the 22-inch 12-spoke Polished aluminum wheels are included on the Limited 302A equipment group and standard on Platinum models, while the 22-inch Premium Black-painted aluminum wheels are included on the Limited 303A and 304A equipment groups.
As previously mentioned, the 2024 Ford Expedition gains only a handful of minor changes over its 2023 model year predecessor. Perhaps the most significant change is the addition of the optional Excursion Package, which bundles things like the Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package, Advanced Cargo Manager, as well as suspension and drivetrain upgrades including ControlTrac with eLSD, a 3.73-geared electronic limited-slip differential, and the Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD) system with suspension road preview. Additionally, inside the cabin, the 2024 Expedition gains a new smart charging USB port in the second row.
We’ll have more on the Expedition soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
