Production of the Ford Super Duty, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator faced one major challenge last year – the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike – which directly impacted the Kentucky Truck Plant for several weeks. Following that proverbial bump in the road, production of those models quickly bounced back, but has remained a bit uneven over the past few months. Now, with another month in the rearview, we can see that Ford Expedition production increased by a significant 43.6 percent in March, while Lincoln Navigator production remained largely flat, according to FoMoCo’s Q1 2024 sales report.
In January, The Blue Oval built a total of 1,587 Lincoln Navigator SUVs, but that number increased to 1,635 units in February – a modest jump of 48 units, or around three percent. Things didn’t change much in March either, as the Kentucky Truck plant managed to build 1,614 Lincoln Navigator SUVs – a slight decrease of 21 units, or right around 1.3 percent fewer than the month prior.
Both the Lincoln Navigator and its platform mate, the Expedition, are set to receive some updates soon as part of a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year. As Ford Authority previously reported, hybrid versions of the Expedition and Navigator are seemingly likely to debut alongside the forthcoming 2025 model year updates planned for both models, which include revised, Range Rover-like exterior styling and new taillights for the Expedition, along with Nautilus-like cues for the Navigator, plus revised interior designs and even a coast-to-coast display screen for the big Lincoln SUV.
As Ford Authority recently reported, the 2025 Ford Expedition will also receive a pretty extensive interior makeover, one that will include the introduction of a coast-to-coast or pillar-to-pillar screen, along with an additional screen in the center stack that’s located between the HVAC vents, much like the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, among various other tweaks – details confirmed by some recently acquired photos of a refreshed Expedition prototype.
