Michigan Central Station Will Hire Ambassadors For Opening

Set to open up in June following years of renovation, Ford’s Michigan Central Station campus is undergoing some final touches before that historic occasion. Though it’s currently unclear just how much of that real estate The Blue Oval will occupy, we do know that plenty of other mobility-focused companies will call it home, and it may even house a hotel up top, too. Recently, FoMoCo chairman Bill Ford created an endowment aimed at helping out the Corktown community that surrounds Michigan Central Station, and now, the automaker has announced that it will hire a number of ambassadors for its upcoming opening as well, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Michigan Central Station staff plans to hire a total of 60 welcome ambassadors – officially called Station Services Associates – that will help deal with the crowds expected to attend the upcoming opening, as well as the rest of the summer. The company will hold a job fair this coming Monday at the Newlab Book Depository on campus, as well as the Detroit at Work Job Fair, which will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at 5801 Southfield Freeway.

These special Station Services Associates positions will pay $20 per hour throughout the summer, and job responsibilities include welcoming and supporting visitors, helping people find their way through the renovated site, as well as providing support for the events and production team, plus various other tasks that may be required. Following five years of nearly non-stop construction, Michigan Central Station will celebrate its official opening on June 6th, 2024, at which point visitors will get their very first taste of the fruits of this massive project.

“The reopening of this iconic landmark is nearly here, and we want to have Detroiters join our team in welcoming visitors back to the Station for the first time in decades,” said Director of Community Engagement at Michigan Central Cornetta Lane-Smith.
