NASCAR Ford Gets P2 In Controversial Texas 2024 Finish: Video

Brad Keselowski pulled off his best finish of the 2024 season after a wild race at Texas on April 14th, 2024, but it was a hard-fought second-place finish for the No. 6 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse. In fact, Keselowski almost wasn’t credited with second place thanks to a scoring discrepancy that forced officials to take a second look at the finishing order after the race was over.

During the second of two Overtime finishes, Keselowski was running behind the No. 9 Chevy Camaro ZL1 of Chase Elliott, the No. 1 Camaro of Ross Chastain and the No. 24 Camaro of William Byron. Chastain and Byron made contact after the white flag had waved, sending the former spinning down the track and forcing Keselowski to dive past both Bow Tie drivers to avoid incident. The yellow flag waved, ending the race, and at first Keselowski was credited as being in second place when the caution came out. However, shortly after, NASCAR rolled back that decision, putting Byron in second and Keselowski in third.

“I’m not sure we finished third,” Keselowski said after the race. “I’m gonna have to see the replay from NASCAR.”

Eventually, officials amended the finishing order again after reviewing footage along with scoring and timing results. They found Keselowski’s No. 6 NASCAR Ford was, in fact, in second place when the caution came out.

“We didn’t have a ton of speed, I was more frustrated than anything because I feel like we have a great team and we don’t have the speed to go with it and we’re doing all we can do to overcome that,” Keselowski said. “So proud of the team for the pit stops, the strategy and the execution [today].”

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Camaro, won the race, snapping a 42-race winless streak. Chase Briscoe was the only other NASCAR Ford team to finish inside the top 10, taking the No. 14 Mustang across the line in sixth.
