No. 98 NASCAR Ford F-150 Misses Out At Martinsville: Video

Ty Majeski put the No. 98 NASCAR Ford F-150 on top of the board in qualifying for the Truck Series race at Martinsville on April 5^th, 2024. Starting from the pole, he went on to lead 66 laps – but he just couldn’t make it stick at the end, chasing a Chevy across the line to finish second.

Majeski raced hard against the No. 19 Chevy Silverado RST of Christian Eckes, the eventual race winner, all throughout Stage 1 and 2. The No. 98 NASCAR Ford snagged the race lead on a restart, diving in front of the pack as Eckes had to fight back from deep in the field after a poor pit stop. Majeski then defended the lead until Eckes got back to him, banging fenders once or twice before Eckes finally sorted himself out into the race lead and never looked back.

“The 19 [Eckes] was tough tonight,” Majeski said. “He was just a little but better than us. He had better tires (in the final stage), and I just could not launch on restarts… But I think we left here with the points lead today. Really solid day. Obviously, you want to win. I wanted that grandfather clock [trophy], but I’m super proud of this team. We’ve been working hard at getting our trucks better, and just a little but short tonight.”

Meanwhile, Australian Supercars regular, Cam Waters, didn’t exactly have the ideal introduction to stock car racing, but he said he had a blast. His No. 66 NASCAR Ford truck was swept into a melee on Lap 177, causing terminal damage to the radiator. He finished 30^th.

“I had so much fun tonight and all day today,” Waters said. “It is totally different racing from what I usually do, and I just wanted to learn. I learned so much… There at the end I just had nowhere to go and knocked the radiator out of it. It is a shame, but I was having fun and learning and had some awesome battles, too.”
