While we don’t see nearly as many Ford Aerostar vans on the roads as we did during that model’s heyday, there have been a handful of nice, lower-mile examples surfacing for sale as of late. That includes a sub-20k-mile 1990 model, a 1993 XL with 48k miles on the clock, and a 1995 XLT E-4WD with 57k miles, to name just a few. Now, those interested in obtaining a nicely-kept Ford Aerostar van can also bid on this 1996 XLT that has a very reasonable 54k miles on the odometer and is up for grabs over at Bring a Trailer.
This 1996 Ford Aerostar spent its entire life in sunny, dry California – at least until the seller acquired it last month – and as such, it remains in pretty stellar condition. In fact, its Oxford White paint is only marred by a couple of small blemishes, but otherwise, looks incredibly sanitary and basically like it just rolled off the showroom floor.
The same is true of the interior, which features gray cloth seating with red piping, though this is a basic mode of family-hauling transportation. In fact, there are very few amenities to be found inside this Aerostar, a list that includes manual crank windows, a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning with independent rear controls, and an aftermarket floor-mounted center console.
Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.0L V6 Vulcan engine, which was factory-rated to produce a modest 145 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. In this particular guise, it sends that power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, and is about as basic as a Ford Aerostar could get during its long and successful run in the American market. Regardless, it’s also an incredibly clean and well-kept example, and as such, should generate some interest at auction.

At first, I hated this van then I began to like it and appreciate the way it was designed. Kinda missed it, actually.
Loved my Aerostars, especially my 1994 Sport. Grew up with a 1990 my dad bought new.
