For many years, Ford’s Panther platform underpinned a variety of models, including the Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car, and Continental, as well as the Mercury Grand Marquis. While all of those vehicles were discontinued years ago, they’re still solid machines that are reliable and comfortable, not to mention commonly endorsed by mechanics for those very reasons. Thus, this very nice 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis should attract its fair share of suitors at auction.
With just 21k miles on the clock, this 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis is basically as new as they can possibly get, and it’s currently up for grabs over at Bring a Trailer. It was originally delivered to North Park Lincoln-Mercury of San Antonio, Texas, and remained in the possession of the original owner’s family until it was just acquired by the selling dealer this March. Basically a time capsule at this point, the big sedan has zero flaws marring its Silver Frost Clearcoat Metallic paint, too.
Interestingly, this Grand Marquis was delivered with Light Graphite premium cloth upholstery, which the dealer promptly replaced with factory-style leather before the owner took delivery. It joins a host of other amenities that include air conditioning, cruise control, woodgrain trim, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an optional CD stereo as well as power windows, door locks, and mirrors. Power for the cushy sedan comes from the Ford 4.6L V8, which was factory-rated to generate 220 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.
This is easily one of the nicest Mercury Grand Marquis sedans of this generation that we’ve seen in some time, but there have been more and more popping up for sale as of late. That list includes a 2000 model with just 20 original miles, a 2004 with 41k miles, and a 2000 LS with 20k miles.
We’ll have more cool cars for sale to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Grand Marquis news and 24/7 Ford news coverage.
