In recent months, we’ve begun seeing more and more low-mile, well-kept Ford Expedition SUVs pop up at collector car auctions, a list that includes a 1998 model with 40k miles on the clock, as well as a 1999 with a mere 53k miles – not bad for 20+ year-old models of any kind. However, neither of those SUVs can compete with this 2002 Ford Expedition – at least in terms of mileage – that just surfaced for sale at Bring a Trailer.
That’s because this 2002 Ford Expedition has a mere 5k miles showing on the odometer, an extremely low figure for any vehicle of this vintage – let alone a family-hauling mainstream SUV. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this Expedition was sold new in California and remained in the possession of the original owner until just recently, meaning that this person clearly didn’t need to drive much – or, at least, they didn’t need to drive their Expedition very much.
After the selling dealer replaced its old tires, this Ford Expedition is now seeking a new home, and aside from a few minor exterior imperfections, it looks like brand new. The Oxford White SUV is somewhat spartan, however, sporting a gray cloth interior and a few amenities that include air conditioning, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows and door locks.
Power for this pristine Ford Expedition comes from the naturally-aspirated 5.4L V8 Triton engine, which was factory-rated to send 260 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.55 gears. It’s hard to say just what kind of market such a find might be welcomed by, but for anyone looking for one of the lowest-mile examples of this generation Expedition, it’ll certainly be hard to top.
We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Expedition news and around-the-clock Ford news coverage.
