Though both were discontinued years ago, we continue to see a renewed interest in both the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable, with numerous well-kept, low-mile examples popping up at collector car auctions in recent months. That list includes a 2000 Taurus wagon with 40k miles, a 2004 Mercury Sable LS wagon with 37k miles, and perhaps the cream of the proverbial crop – a 2005 Mercury Sable LS wagon with 29k miles that sold for a rather significant $15k. That result likely bodes well for this 2004 Mercury Sable LS Premium wagon that’s currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, too.
This particular Sable wagon has a few more miles on the clock – 61k – but it also remained in the possession of the original owner until just last year. As such, it’s still in stellar condition, with no noted flaws marring its lighter green exterior paint, which looks essentially as good as new in the pictures provided.
The same goes for the super sanitary interior, which is equipped with beige leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, woodgrain trim accents on the dash, center console, and door panels, plus amenities including automatic climate control, cruise control, power-adjustable pedals, and a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, plus the requisite power windows and door locks.
Power for this Mercury Sable wagon comes from the reliable, naturally-aspirated 3.0L V6 Duratec engine, which in this guise was factory-rated to generate 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission, and is nestled in a very clean looking engine bay – mated to equally clean undersides. Whether or not it sells for a significant sum remains to be seen, but for now at least, this Sable certainly looks like a great find for anyone in the market for such a machine.
