The redesigned Ford Ranger launched in Australia some time before it arrived in the U.S., but was immediately met with its fair share of challenges, many of which stemmed from supply chain shortages at that time. As a result, Ford was quick to drop select features from the new pickup in an effort to keep things moving along, as well as raise prices shortly thereafter. Despite this, the Ranger wound up taking the Australian sales crown from the Toyota Hilux in 2023, though just last month, The Blue Oval announced that it was removing even more features from the 2024 Ford Ranger. Now, that list has grown to include even more losses, coupled with another price increase – according to CarExpert.
As part of its mid-year update, the Australian 2024 Ford Ranger will be getting a round of price increases set to take effect on the first of June. While the entry-level XL trim will stay put, the XLS will be $250 more expensive after that date, while the XLT gets a $250 increase for bi-turbo models and $1,250 for V6-powered examples, jumps that are mimicked by the same configuration of trims including the Sport and Wildtrak. Meanwhile, the Platinum and Ranger Raptor will also be $1,250 more expensive, too.
“The price adjustments are consistent with the evaluation of market conditions we regularly undertake across our product portfolio, which take into consideration a number of different external factors such as currency and material cost considerations,” said a Ford Australia spokesperson.
Additionally, the 2024 Ford Ranger in Australia is set to lose a few more features, including automatic high-beams, which have been removed from the Platinum and Raptor, though it remains in place as an option for the Wildtrak. Ford MyKey has also been dropped from the entire lineup, while the Ranger Raptor is losing its optional decals and beadlock capable wheels.
