Back in early 2021, Ford Blue Advantage officially launched as an all-new certified pre-owned vehicle marketplace, right smack in the middle of the global pandemic. It capitalized on the fact that new vehicle inventory was at all-time lows and used vehicles were hot commodities as a result, giving consumers what was basically the next-best thing – CPO vehicles that were nearly new in a sense. That program has since expanded to include EVs, and now, Ford has made yet another notable change to its fairly new CPO program.
Unlike a lot of other CPO programs out there, Ford Blue Advantage offers a comprehensive limited warranty of three months or 4,000 miles for not only Ford-branded vehicles, but also, those from other brands. Previously, that warranty ran alongside the manufacturer’s new vehicle warranty, but according to a dealer bulletin recently seen by CarsDirect, competitor vehicles will now come with a three-month, 4,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty that begins when the new vehicle limited warranty ends, or the signature date of the vehicle purchase – whichever comes last.
To be eligible for this new warranty coverage under the Ford Blue Advantage Certified Blue program, vehicles must come from an eligible brand, however, a list that currently includes Ford, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, GMC, Honda, Jeep, Mazda, Nissan, Ram, Subaru, and Toyota.
Ford Blue Certified vehicles must pass a 139-point inspection to earn that status, but can’t be more than 10 years old or have more than 150,000 miles. Those that purchase one also get a handful of additional perks that include not only the beefed-up warranty coverage noted here, but also, a 14-day, 1,000-mile money back guarantee, 24/7 roadside assistance, and 11,000 FordPass points, which can be used toward the new owner’s first maintenance visit.
We’ll have more on Ford Blue Advantage soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for continuous Ford news coverage.
