Ford Expedition Production Decreased In April 2024

Production of the Ford Expedition – along with the Ford Super Duty and Lincoln Navigator, which are built alongside each other – all faced plenty of adversity last fall after the United Auto Workers (UAW) walked out of the Kentucky Truck Plant amid the union’s ongoing strike, but things quickly bounced back to normal after that situation was settled and assembly lines were running again. Through the first part of 2024, Ford Expedition production has been on the rise as well – at least, until the month of April.

This trend began in January, when Ford Expedition production totaled 9,324 units, which represented a significant month-over-month increase of around 43.6 percent, or 2,929 units. Expedition production continued its upward trend in February as well, albeit at a slower clip, rising by 169 units or around 1.8 percent to 9,493 units.

March marked the third straight month of increases in terms of how many Expeditions FoMoCo has built this year, too – that total came in at 9,806 units, which was 313 units or just over three percent more than the month prior. Now, with the release of Ford’s April sales report, we can see that Ford Expedition production declined last month, dropping by 807 units or just over eight percent to 8,999 units.

As for the future of the Ford Expedition, it – along with the Navigator – are expected to receive a refresh for the 2025 model year following the last mid-cycle action in 2022, one that will bring about a host of updates for the large SUVs. Those include the possible addition of a hybrid powertrain option, Range Rover-like exterior styling, new taillights, and a pretty extensive interior makeover, one that will include the introduction of a coast-to-coast or pillar-to-pillar screen.
