Though it builds and sells vehicles at various locations around the entire globe, Ford has long been known as a distinctly American entity, as well as one of the most iconic companies in the U.S., period. In fact, over the past five years, Ford has ranked as the number one American automaker in terms of the number of vehicles it assembles there, the vehicles exported from America to other countries, and the number of hourly workers it employs. Now, that streak has been extended to six years.
In 2023, Ford assembled more than 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S., which was 130,000 more than any other automotive manufacturer, and 79 percent of the vehicles it sold in the U.S. were built there, too. Last year, Ford exported another 260,000 vehicles built in America to other countries – or around one out of every seven it produces – which is also more than any of its rivals.
On top of all that, Ford employs more hourly manufacturing workers – 57,000 – than any other automaker in America, with 2,800 dealerships spread across the U.S., to boot. Regardless, these numbers don’t really come as a huge surprise given the fact that Ford has now topped this list for six consecutive years, and it continues to grow its U.S.-based business as well, employing more United Auto Workers (UAW) represented workers than any of its rivals.
“Ford is a uniquely American company,” said Andrew Frick, Ford Blue president. “We are proud to serve our customers with vehicles that embody the best of American innovation and ingenuity.”

If the correct definition of “American” is applied, then any vehicle or component manufactured between Canada and Chile is American, since these are the extreme points of the Amercan Hemisphere, containing all the nations of North snd South America.
The only definition of American is THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 🇺🇸
The End
We bought a 2021 Mustang Mach 1, 6 speed manual. Then found out that with the Tremac manual it is 99% US made. Now that is American made in the USA!
I drive Ford vehicles, which were all made in the USA and it’s a good feeling to be supporting an American company with such a storied history.
What kind of stoopid circle is that?
Canada certainly buys alot
As a Canadian, we love trucks and suvs. Unfortunately my truck wasn’t Canadian or American but Mexican.
