Ford Mustang GTD Applications For Mexico Open Next Month

Applications for the Ford Mustang GTD opened up for North American customers back in mid-April, and when they closed just over a month later, The Blue Oval had a rather significant 7,500 eager potential buyers line up for their chance to spend $300k+ on the latest and greatest pony car. However, it seems as though that application window wasn’t reserved for all North American customers – only the U.S. and Canada – as now, applications are set to open in Mexico very soon, too.

The Blue Oval has announced that Ford Mustang GTD applications will open for Mexican customers – along with those residing in Europe and the Middle East – in June, though it hasn’t yet provided a specific date. Regardless, when that window does open, customers in those parts of the world will be able to go here and register their interest in purchasing the highest-performing, factory-built, road-going Mustang ever.

The Ford Mustang GTD debuted to much fanfare and a bit of shock back in August 2023, given the fact that few expected The Blue Oval to create such a hardcore road-going machine based on its legendary pony car. In fact, the GTD borrows quite a bit of tech from the new S650-based GT3 racer, including exotic aerodynamic wizardry, a purpose-built version of Ford’s supercharged 5.2L V8 generating a targeted 800 horsepower, a fortified semi-active suspension, and an eight-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle.

As customers wait to hear if they’ve been selected to purchase this exotic machine, the Ford Mustang GTD is currently in Europe aiming to set a lap time at the iconic Nurburgring of less than seven minutes. The GTD will also make its public debut in that region at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is set to take place June 15th-16th, followed by appearances at the 24 Hours of Spa and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
