Since its debut across a variety of global markets, the all-new, redesigned Ford Ranger has accumulated its fair share of accolades and awards, many of them safety related. That includes the South American country of Argentina, where production of the mid-size pickup began last summer at the Pacheco Assembly plant, after which it was named 2024 Car of the Year by the PREMIA Group. Now, that list has grown yet again, this time, to include a key safety award in Argentina as well.
This latest award for the Ford Ranger comes from the Center for Experimentation and Road Safety (CESVI), which handed that particular model its “Safest Car of 2023” honor in the mid-size pickup category. CESVI determines the winners of these awards by evaluating new vehicles in 225 different areas including their restraint systems, structural design, crash testing results, and passive safety systems, then assigns each of those models a safety score between 1 and 100.
“We made a big bet by transforming our Pacheco plant and producing a new generation of pickup, which has become the reference of the segment. We are proud that all the specialized press of South America and organizations as prestigious as CESVI have chosen the new Ranger as the vehicle of the year,” said Martín Galdeano, president of Ford Argentina and Ford South America. “Customers are also transmitting to us their satisfaction with the product, which is growing significantly in market share, both in Argentina and in the countries of South America that we supply from Pacheco.”
This is just the latest in a line of safety-related awards bestowed upon the all-new Ford Ranger since its launch, as the mid-size pickup previously earned a five star rating from Euro NCAP, and also aced testing conducted by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) as well.
