As Ford and Volkswagen’s relationship continues to grow and evolve, the two automakers have pooled resources to create a host of new models, which includes the next-generation VW Transporter. That new van is based on the all-new Ford Transit Connect and E-Transit Connect, which just launched in Europe, and will also be built alongside them, too. Now, as we await the debut of the redesigned VW Transporter, the German automaker has given us our best look yet at the future model.
Here, we’re getting our very first look at the new VW Transporter without any camo, which will represent the seventh generation of that particular model. “We are transferring the DNA of our our icon into modern times with the completely new Transporter,” said VW Commercial Vehicles Chief Designer Albert Kirzinger. “The details of the seventh-generation pick up the characteristic design features of its six predecessors and give them a new interpretation.”
The automaker also revealed that pre-sales for the all-new VW Transporter have already begun in Europe, with the very first deliveries expected to start in Q1 2025. The new van will start out at 36,780 euros ($39,881 USD) when it arrives. As Ford Authority previously reported, the VW Transporter will be built alongside the Transit Connect – which will reportedly enjoy an 11-year production cycle – and E-Transit Connect at the joint-venture Ford Otosan Assembly plant in Turkey.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen’s MEB platform currently underpins the European Ford Explorer EV and another yet-to-be-revealed crossover, but beyond that, it’s unclear what FoMoCo’s future EV plans are for that region. The automaker may continue to utilize that platform or develop its own low-cost architecture, as is the case in the U.S., but recently scrapped its goal of going all-electric in Europe by 2030 amid declining demand.
We’ll have more on Ford and Volkswagen’s partnership very soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford business news and non-stop Ford news coverage.

Best thing thata could happen is for VW to buy Ford out and fire the Ford board.
