As Ford Authority reported back in May 2022, Ford revealed that it would no longer be offering X-Plan to shareholders as of June 1st, 2022. Previously, those that held at least 100 shares of Ford stock for six months were eligible to receive a Ford X-Plan PIN, a program that was originally initiated to entice the company’s shareholders to purchase a new Blue Oval vehicle, and have the ability to do so at pre-determined prices. It was unclear if Ford planned to reinstate that eligibility to this point, but at least for now, that doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
This confirmation comes to us from Ford’s shareholder’s meeting, as the automaker was asked if it planned on bringing back X-Plan eligibility for those folks at some point. The Blue Oval responded by saying that “currently, there are no plans to reinstate the X-Plan pricing for shareholders,” meaning that at least in the short term, shareholders won’t be eligible for that particular discount. X-Plan is just one of several special pricing plans that Ford offers, including A-Plan (Ford employees and their immediate family members), Z-Plan (retired Ford employees and surviving spouses), and D-Plan (Ford dealership employees and eligible family members).
This is obviously disappointing news for shareholders looking to score some sort of special discount on a new FoMoCo vehicle, particularly as many that weren’t previously eligible for X-Plan pricing have recently gained that eligibility. Most of these updates just took place in January, in fact, on a trio of models that had previously been excluded for years.
It all started with the sixth-generation Ford Bronco, which gained X-Plan eligibility for the first time since its debut for the 2020 model year in early January. It was followed by the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning shortly thereafter, as well as the Ford Mustang Mach-E, too.
We’ll have more on the status of this and all Ford discount programs soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for 24/7 Ford news coverage.
