Production of the Lincoln Navigator – along with the Ford Super Duty and Ford Expedition, which are built alongside each other – all faced plenty of adversity last fall after the United Auto Workers (UAW) walked out of the Kentucky Truck Plant amid the union’s ongoing strike, but things quickly bounced back to normal after that situation was settled and assembly lines were running again. Through the first part of 2024, Lincoln Navigator production has remained fairly even, however, at least until April.
In January, The Blue Oval built a total of 1,587 Lincoln Navigator SUVs, but that number increased to 1,635 units in February – a modest jump of 48 units, or around three percent. Things didn’t change much in March either, as the Kentucky Truck plant managed to build 1,614 Lincoln Navigator SUVs – a slight decrease of 21 units, or right around 1.3 percent fewer than the month prior. However, according to Ford’s latest sales report, things ramped up a bit in April.
Last month, Ford built a total of 1,839 Lincoln Navigator SUVs at the Kentucky Truck plant, which is 225 units or right at 14 percent more than the month prior. Meanwhile, as for its mainstream counterpart, the Expedition, it faced its first production decline of the year in April, dropping by 807 units or just over eight percent to 8,999 units versus March.
As for the future of the Lincoln Navigator, it – along with the Expedition – are expected to receive a refresh for the 2025 model year, one that will bring about a host of changes for both large SUVs. For the Navigator, those updates include the debut of a full-width light bar, available 24-inch wheels, a coast-to-coast display, and potentially a hybrid powertrain option and a Range Rover-style split liftgate.
