NASCAR Ford Trucks Lose Out In Overtime Finish At Darlington: Video

The Truck Series race at Darlington on May 10^th, 2024, looked like it was Ty Majeski’s to lose. On a late race Overtime restart, Majeski’s No. 98 Ford F-150 started on the front row – but he was bowled over by a couple Chevy trucks on their way to the win.

Majeski held a lead of more than five seconds over second place before the No. 91 Chevy Silverado RST of Jack Wood hammered the outside wall with five laps left to go, causing the final caution and prompting an Overtime finish. His lead evaporated when the field was slowed, and he chose the outside lane on the restart, hoping to be able to get ahead of the field. It didn’t work as planned, however, and he fell in behind the No. 45 Silverado of Ross Chastain and the No. 2 Silverado, ultimately finishing fifth.

“I should have taken the inside,” said Majeski after the race. “It sucks when you’re in position to win with a truck like that. We were so good on the long run and not so good on the short run. It would take 10-15 laps for this thing to get going, and then the thing was just lights-out. But it came down to a short run, and I didn’t execute like we needed to.”

Chastain won, followed by Sanchez in second and the No. 99 NASCAR Ford of Ben Rhodes in third. Christian Eckes slipped the No. 19 Silverado into fourth, just ahead of Majeski at the line.
