No. 17 NASCAR Ford One To Watch In 2024 Coca-Cola 600

The Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is NASCAR’s longest event and is one of the crown jewels of motorsports. Scheduled for May 26th, 2024, this year’s “endurance” race has a long list of drivers to watch, and all eyes are on the No. 17 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse of Chris Buescher to take it all.

This week’s Racing Insights released on NASCAR.com point out that Buescher has had a stellar season so far, although the No. 17 NASCAR Ford team has had a rough couple races. Losing at Kansas and bested again at Darlington, the No. 17 Ford crew has been in contention to win, but just couldn’t get across the line first. However, even through the recent heartbreak, Buescher has the chance to bounce back.

“The Buescher camp has suffered heartbreak in the last two points-paying races,” NASCAR.com says. “Despite that, the No. 17 team has been hitting its stride and has been in contention to win in a handful of races this year. Charlotte could be the weekend they finally put it all together and get a breakthrough win.”

For his part, Buescher says he’s looking forward to Charlotte. He has a decent track record there, finishing eighth at the event in 2023, although he wrecked out in dramatic fashion during the 2022 running.

“I’m pumped for it,” he said. “We led laps and got a stage win at a time of the year where we hadn’t hit our stride, so that speaks volumes for us going into it.”

He added, “Momentum is just a product of running good and being on our game and our team has done a fantastic job. Again, I couldn’t be more proud of them. I wanted two more (spots in the All-Star Race), but it is a heck of a way to lead us right into the 600 next weekend.”
