No. 22 NASCAR Ford Leads Almost Every Lap At 2024 All-Star Race: Video

After going winless for the first third of the 2024 Cup Series season, The Blue Oval went back-to-back this weekend, winning the annual All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 19th, 2024. Joey Logano absolutely dominated in the No. 22 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse, leading all but one lap on his way to Victory Lane.

That doesn’t mean it was an easy victory for Logano, though. He fended off a hard-charging Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Toyota TRD Camry, along with All-Star Race ace Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Chevy Camaro ZL1, as the laps ticked down.

Logano opted to run the entire race on the soft-option tires, which lasted long enough to get him across the line 0.636 seconds ahead of Hamlin. It marked his second All-Star Race victory, and the fifth for NASCAR Ford Team Penske.

“A lot of fun when you’ve got a car this fast,” said Logano after the race. “The Shell/Pennzoil Mustang, it’s just so great to get in Victory Lane. All of our sponsors and everyone who stuck with us to get a win, it feels nice. It’s been a while. I wish it was for points, but a million bucks is still a lot of money, and I feel great about that.”

On the last lap, Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Mustang, slipped past Larson to finish third, demoting the No. 5 Camaro to fourth. It’s also worth noting that NASCAR Ford driver Noah Gragson won the fan vote and was transferred into the All-Star Race after finishing fifth in the Open, the 100-lap qualifying race that took place before the All-Star Race. He finished 11th in the main event.

  1. I’m a Nascar fan but the only reason that Joey Lagano won was because he did a tire test there and turn 800 laps so He had 800 laps more practice

  2. So did Toyota and Chevy teams, they weren’t in victory lane. Give Lagano and his team due credit.
