No. 6 NASCAR Ford Breaks Three-Year Dry Spell At Darlington: Video

When the leaders slammed into each other with less than 10 laps left at Darlington on May 12th, 2024, Brad Keselowski saw his chance to charge into the lead. He never looked back and put the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse across the line in first, snapping a pair of winless streaks: his own spanning three years, and Ford’s since the start of the 2024 season.

The last time Keselowski found Victory Lane was at Talladega in the spring of 2021, 110 races prior to the Cup Series event at Darlington. In fact, this is the first time Keselowski has won since taking part ownership of his NASCAR Ford team, Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing (RFK), marking his second Darlington victory and the 36th of his career.

“What a heck of a day,” Keselowski said. “It’s Darlington, so whether it’s your first win, your last win, this is a really special track. The history of NASCAR, it’s as tough as it gets, and that battle at the end with my teammate and Tyler Reddick, we just laid it all out on the line, it was freaking awesome.”

It wasn’t an easy win for Keselowski, however. He traded paint with Tyler Reddick’s No. 45 Toyota TRD Camry for the lead for four laps before surrendering the position. He was even passed by his RFK teammate, Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Mustang, before Reddick and Buescher collided, scrubbing off precious speed and opening the door for Keselowski to win.

Unsurprisingly, Buescher was frustrated with Reddick’s conduct and approached him after the race. The two never came to blows, but their conversation was obviously heated.

“We got wrecked,” Buescher said. “That one’s clear as day. Don’t need any cameras to tell us. I don’t know what to say. We’ve raced really clean through the years, tried to be really respectful about it, and we get used up…  I’m just really pissed off about it right now. We certainly had a chance to win another one.”
