As most Blue Oval fans are well aware, the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth is one of the most special models ever to come from that particular automaker, and in that vein, we routinely see examples of the rare, high-performance, homologated rally machine pop up at auction and sell for big bucks. That list includes the very first Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth ever built, the third one produced, and a very nice 23k-mile model that’s number 213 of 500 total. Now, this 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth has surfaced for sale at KGF Classic Cars, and it has less than 10k miles showing on the odometer, too.
Amazingly, this Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth has remained in the possession of the original owner since it was new, and yet, they’ve only driven it a total of 9,180 miles over the ensuing years. Aside from being number 404 of 500 such models produced, it’s also one of only 52 that left the factory finished in a shade of paint called Moonstone Blue, too.
The interior of this RS500 Cosworth is finished in an equally sanitary shade called Ford Roma Grey, and there are essentially zero flaws to note inside or out. Otherwise, it’s fitted with all of the good stuff that made these cars so incredibly special, including its turbocharged 2.0L powerplant designed by Cosworth, along with beefier brakes, unique bodywork, a rather iconic rear spoiler, and hand assembly.
With an original sales price of £20,249 ($25,446 USD), it’s safe to say that this Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth turned into quite the appreciating asset, as it’s asking price right now is a cool £349,995 ($439,831 USD). However, it’s also pretty safe to say that there aren’t many others like it out there in the world – at least, not with this sort of low mileage total that have lived under one owner and still look like brand new – and that makes it likely worth every penny of that inflated asking price.
We’ll have more cool cars for sale to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Cosworth RS500 news and non-stop Ford news coverage.

We were on a Ford of Canada dealer trip in 1983 and the Managing Director of Ford Europe threw me the keys to his Sierra RS and told me to take it for a drive while we were in Zurich. BAD fast piece that cornered like a go kart. Sadly the Merkur that we got over here was nowhere near that car.
