Shmee150’s Ford GT Races Mammoth 1200 Ram TRX: Video

One of many celebrity owners, Tim Burton of the mega-popular YouTube channel Shmee150 has plenty of experience with the Ford GT after having driven his many miles over the years – and in multiple countries, to boot. Burton has also cranked out a number of interesting videos related to the Ford GT, even giving us a closer look at the last example ever produced a little over a year ago, in fact. Recently, Burton shipped his Ford GT back to the U.S. for another stint, and proceeded to participate in a very interesting drag race.

Schmee150 Ford GT Drag Races Hennessey Performance Mammoth 1200 Ram TRX - Exterior 002 - Rear Three Quarters

In this recent video from Hennessey Performance, we get to see Burton’s Ford GT lineup against the Texas-based tuner’s Mammoth Ram TRX 1200, which – as its name implies – cranks out a whopping 1,200 horsepower thanks to an array of upgrades including a fortified supercharger, smaller pulleys, and a custom calibration. Regardless, it’s still a heavy beast, which gives the Ford GT a pretty decent shot at keeping up, at least on paper.

Burton’s Ford GT is powered by an enhanced version of the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, in this guise generating 647 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. On the flip side, the Ram TRX tips the scales around around 6,500 pounds, versus around 3,500 for the Ford GT, though it also has all-wheel drive while the GT is rear-wheel drive.

When the rubber meets the road, the Mammoth version of the TRX puts its power and traction advantage to work by jumping out to a huge early lead, taking an easy win even as the Ford GT catches up a bit at the top end. The GT gets its revenge on the second round after climbing its way out of a big hole, so the two decide to give it a go in a roll race. There, the GT proves superior before the two put on an epic fourth dig race – making for a pretty interesting duel, by anyone’s standards.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. and for our next foolish act, we’ll have a F1 car drag race a AA/FD, stopping, turning around, but the total time will be counted by returning to the start immediately and going again! Next, a fighter jet vs a boat at a rallycross!

  2. That Ford GT is a monster, that’s TRX has three times the horsepower, but yet that GT beat them twice. I wonder what would happen if Ford put a bigger engine or revamp that old 3.5 L engine.

    1. Or just get a better driver, that guy clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing. Where did they get this guy? Should have changed drivers and had them drive the TRX. for last two races

Or just hit me up I will take care of the driver issue

  3. Obviously this guy does not know how to race a car. Just a lucky guy feeling good about his purchase.
