Ford Bronco production at the Michigan Assembly plant was on a bit of a downward spiral early this year due to growing inventory levels of leftover 2023 model year SUVs, but did manage to bounce back in April following a couple months of mixed results. At the same time, the vehicle that’s built next to it – the recently-redesigned Ford Ranger – has been on a steady upward trajectory as the automaker works to build enough mid-size pickups to meet demand. Regardless, Ford Bronco production did wind up increasing yet again in May, too.
According to Ford’s May sales report, Ford Bronco production at MAP totaled 11,817 units, which is 422 units or nearly four percent higher than April’s total of 11,395 units. That figure still trails January’s production total of 12,143 units, as well as February’s 12,659 units, but it’s still the third highest monthly total of the calendar year so far. It’s also a big jump from March, when things bottomed out at 9,833 units, which could very well be attributed to declining sales and increasing inventory, as well as the aforementioned sharp ramp up in Ranger production.
Now squarely in the midst of its fourth year of production, the Ford Bronco hasn’t been treated to too many notable updates for the 2024 model year. However, some paint options for the rugged SUV now cost extra, which is a common theme among many other new vehicles these days.
Otherwise, the 2024 Ford Bronco added the Everglades wheel as an available option for certain Sasquatch Package-equipped models, along with a Raptor-style running board for regular models, and a Shadow Black painted hard top option, while the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor gained a body-color hard top option, as well as the all-new Raptor Black Appearance Package.
