The Mustang Challenge is a Blue Oval-only racing series sanctioned by IMSA that exists to show off what the Ford Mustang Dark Horse R can do when turned loose on a racetrack. MDK Racing is gearing up for the races with a few Dark Horse R race cars ready to roll, and a new driver is joining the stampede: none other than Ford CEO Jim Farley himself.
Farley will take control of a Mustang Dark Horse R at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course on June 7th through 9th, 2024, putting the race car through its paces in the inaugural Mustang Challenge race. Farley is a passionate automotive enthusiast and racer himself, fond of his collection of vintage vehicles that include a 1965 Ford GT 40, a 1966 427 Cobra, and 1978 Lola 298. He frequently tracks his cars and is experienced in the art of performance driving.
“I am so excited to participate in the first Mustang Challenge race of 2024 at Mid-Ohio with the team from MDK Motorsports,” Farley said. “This is an amazing time for Mustang as we grow our family to include grassroots racing all the way up to the Mustang GT3 which will compete at Le Mans next week. Like all the racers this weekend, I have a lot to learn in a short amount of time, but I can’t wait to get out there and enjoy some close battles with like-minded Mustang racing fans.”
Recently, Farley turned laps in the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge at Daytona in January 2024. Prior to that, he raced an Australian Mustang GT3 after the endurance race car was announced, and boasts a podium finish in his Ford GT 40 at the Le Mans Classic in 2022.
We’re just a few days away from the debut race of the #MustangChallenge series with @FordMustang Dark Horse R, June 7-9. So excited for this series to kick off that I’ve decided to join these racers on the grid myself! As a tribute to the first win for Mustang at Mid-Ohio in 1967… pic.twitter.com/suDGGnoat4

Farley is awesome! It would be great if more execs actually loved or were fans of their own products.
I agree 100%. Now if Ford could only get their quality control whipped into shape???
Love this! Talk about a passionate CEO and leader for the company and products! Rip it up Farley and share some video feed too!
Failure Farley only cares about his racing enterprise which explains why Ford Motor Company has at least 1 recall/week. Failure Farley will still be paid over $20 million/year no matter how many vehicles Ford recalls or how bad Ford quality is. Ford quality is the same as Alfa Romeo’s.
Farley is the same guy who months ago was telling us how great his EVs were and how they’re the future and how we just have to accept it.
He’s a charlatan. Their EV interests failed, and now they’re trying to save face and make it seem like they didn’t drive ICE prices thru the roof tomtry to offset EV losses while telling everyone the EVs were the way forward.
Have a good time, President Farley!
We all deserve some Vroom Time!
It’s safe to say Failure Farley is passionate about auto racing but not passionate when it comes to Ford’s very poor quality.
