Ford Chile Sales Down One Percent In May 2024

Ford Chile sales decreased one percent to 1,019 units in May 2024. The figures place Ford as the eighth country’s best-selling automobile brand during the month, behind Suzuki, Chevrolet, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot and GWM.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Ford model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

Ford F-Series sales decreased 17.12 percent to 92 units
Ford Heavy Trucks sales were flat at 0 units
Ford Ranger sales increased 8 percent to 351 units
Ford Territory sales decreased 20.89 percent to 231 units
Ford Transit sales increased 67.24 percent to 97 units

During the first five months of the 2024 calendar year, Ford Chile sales increased 18 percent to 5,572 units.

The Ford Authority Take

After experiencing a drastic rise in April, Ford Chile sales suffered a slight decrease in the low single digits for May. The Blue Oval contracted in the Chilean market and significantly reduced its inter-monthly volume, going from 1,300 units sold the previous month to just over a thousand.

Ford Chile’s slight contraction in May was caused by slower sales of models such as the Ford Territory and the Ford F-Series, with both losing a significant volume of 80 units year-over-year. This is combined with the relatively low popularity of other nameplates like the Ford Escape, Bronco Sport, and Maverick, which have failed to stand out in their respective segments.

In contrast, the best-selling Ford Ranger posted a healthy increase over the past month and continued to hold its thanks to the arrival of the redesigned model. The Ford Transit also performed well in May, although volume remained modest at below 100 units.
