Ford F-150 Lightning Wins 2024 Best Value In Canada Award

Since it launched for the 2022 model year, the Ford F-150 Lightning has received more than its fair share of accolades – many of which are centered around the benefits it offers in terms of lower ownership costs compared to its ICE counterpart. This is true of both retail and commercial fleet customers, and in that regard, the Ford F-150 Lightning took home top honors in its segment in the 2024 Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards and Vincentric’s 2024 Best Fleet Value in America Awards, too. Now, the Ford F-150 Lightning has secured another, similar award as well.

That accolade is a Vincentric 2024 Best Value in Canada Award, as the Ford F-150 Lightning beat out five other competitors in the full-size half-ton pickup segment by offering buyers the lowest maintenance, operating, and total cost of ownership in its class, with actual ownership costs coming in 25.4 percent lower than expected levels. In doing so, the F-150 Lightning joined the Ford Maverick Hybrid, which took home top honors in the compact/mid-size pickup segment.

To determine its Best Value in Canada Award winners, Vincentric measured cost of ownership using eight different factors – depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. It then used a statistical model to determine which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. This year, Vincentric evaluated around 2,000 vehicle configurations in all ten Canadian provinces plus the Northwest Territories, and found that electrified vehicles are beginning to dominate these rankings.

“Over 70 percent of winners for the 2024 Vincentric Best Value in Canada Awards were BEVs, plug-ins, or hybrids,” said David Wurster, Vincentric President. “Our data shows that EVs typically have lower fuel and maintenance costs than gas-powered models, which, based on the strong performance of EVs in this year’s awards, can translate into great value for Canadian consumers. There was also a vast array of brands that came out with winning models. With no single brand winning more than three segments, the Canadian market has a wide variety of best-in-class options.”
