Ford Ranger Engine Production Begins In Argentina

Production of the all-new, next-generation Ford Ranger began the Pacheco Assembly plant in Argentina back in June 2023, but the pickup itself wasn’t the only new addition planned for that particular facility. In fact, following a rather large investment in the Pacheco plant, it was also slated to begin building engines for the new Ford Ranger in the near future as well. Now, that process has officially begun, the automaker has announced.

Production of the turbocharged 3.0L V6 Power Stroke diesel engine destined for the new Ford Ranger at the Struandale Engine plant in South Africa – along with the 2.0L single- and bi-turbo diesel powerplants – have been in production for some time now, but following an $80 million dollar infusion of cash into the Pacheco plant, it is now building both the 3.0L V6 Power Stroke and 2.0L four-cylinder diesel as well.

This is just the latest phase in what is a massive transformation for the Pacheco plant, a facility that builds and exports the pickup to other markets in addition to South America. The Ranger originally entered production at the Pacheco plant back in 1996 in two-wheel drive, regular cab configuration. Since then, Ranger production has expanded greatly at that facility, and currently consists of around 16 different variants, supplying roughly 70 percent of the total Latin American market for the mid-size pickup. Back on October 2022, Pacheco built its one-millionth Ranger pickup, in fact.
