Ford Ranger Super Duty Trademark Filing Raises Questions

Ford Motor Company has filed to trademark “Ranger Super Duty” with the Intellectual Property Office Of The Philippines (IPOPHL), Ford Authority has learned.

Filed on March 1st, 2024, under serial number 42024505753, this application contains the goods and services description of “motor vehicles, namely, automobiles, pick-up trucks, utility trucks, and sport utility vehicles, and parts thereof.”

The Ford Authority Take

The Ford Ranger – which just underwent a full redesign recently – has long been sold in a number of global markets, in a variety of trims and configurations – many of them not part of the mid-size pickup’s U.S. lineup. That includes everything from the off-road-focused Wildtrak to the sporty MS-RT, to name just a couple, not to mention regular cab models or those with a manual transmission. However, this trademark leaves us asking – just what, exactly, is a Ranger Super Duty?

Currently, Ford Philippines offers the Ranger in a variety of trims, including the XL, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, and Ranger Raptor. However, the Ford Super Duty isn’t sold in that market, nor is it really anything like the Ranger, save for the fact that both are trucks wearing Blue Oval badges. The Super Duty is known for its prowess in terms of hauling and towing heavy loads, which could give us some clues as to what this mysterious Ranger Super Duty might offer customers.

Thus, the Ranger Super Duty could wind up being a heavier-duty version of that mid-size pickup, or perhaps just a new trim or optional package with a strange name. Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, but in the meantime, we’re left to speculate about what FoMoCo might be cooking up for the next new addition to its lineup in the Philippines.

  2. A Super Duty mid-sized truck with a turbo 2.3L 4 cylinder? Or a turbo 6 cylinder? Haha…..They better be dropping in a 5.0L!! Then it will have a ‘Super’ price tag! If they do that then why not just buy the F series truck?

  3. Great idea! because full size trucks have been designed for tall sasquatches. Regular cab, 8 ft. tray bed, big n/a 6 cylinder, solid front axle.
