After closing out 2023 as that year’s most recalled automotive manufacturer in the U.S., Ford has also faced its fair share of issues in other parts of the world, too. That includes Australia, where the automaker has issued a fair number of recalls for various models as of late, and now that list has grown yet again, this time, to include the all-new Ford Transit Connect that just launched in that country.
As first noticed by CarExpert, the redesigned Ford Transit Connect is being recalled in Australia over a software issue with the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). The issue pertains to the Lane Change Warning Assist (LCWA) feature, specifically, as it may not operate as intended, which could increase the risk of crash. Luckily, it seems as if most of the 1,117 affected vehicles have yet to be delivered to customers, however, so that problem can be fixed first. A list of affected VINs can be found here.
“Ford Australia issued a stop-ship notice for the new Ford Transit Custom, which has now been lifted, in order to rectify a software issue with the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM),” a Ford Australia spokesperson told CarExpert. “Around 50 vehicles were sold prior to the stop-ship being submitted, and these customers will be contacted by their dealer to have rectification work completed.”
Regardless, the Ford Transit Custom is just the latest Blue Oval model to face a recall in Australia over the past few weeks, joining the Ford Escape, which was recalled over an issue that could cause a loss of steering control in May. The Ford F-150 – which is being converted to right-hand drive by a third-party company in that same country – has also been recalled multiple times for various reasons since its launch there, too.
