Front Row Motorsports (FRM), which currently supports two NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse race cars in the Cup Series, will expand its operations and field a third entry in the Cup Series beginning in 2025. FRM recently purchased a charter from Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), another Blue Oval team, which is ceasing operations at the end of the 2024 racing season.
FRM made the announcement in a statement on social media. FRM owner, Bob Jenkins, said he’s thrilled to be able to expand his team in the Cup Series and is looking forward to the challenge.
“We have a very positive outlook on the future of NASCAR and as the sport plans for success, so do we,” Jenkins stated. “Today that means having a plan for expanding back to three cars in the NASCAR Cup Series. I always have the vision to continue to grow and improve our team and that commitment to desire never changes. I am committed to the sport and its passionate fans and partners.”
FRM General Manager, Jerry Freeze, added, “Starting a new team from scratch is always a challenge, but with the opportunities in front of us, the talent we have in our leadership, and a bit of a runway to get there, I am confident that we can produce three competitive programs out of the box for the 2025 season.”
Currently, FRM fields the No. 34 NASCAR Ford Mustang driven by Michael McDowell, although McDowell is leaving the organization at the end of the season. It also fields the No. 38 Mustang of Todd Gilliland. At this time, it’s not clear who will be taking over McDowell’s seat, or which driver will join to drive the third Mustang entry next year. However, there are a few eligible drivers looking for rides after SHR’s closure, including Josh Berry, Ryan Preece, and Noah Gragson.
