The Cup Series is headed to Iowa Speedway for the first time on June 16th, 2024. The Blue Oval is the winningest manufacturer at the track so far, and the NASCAR Ford drivers are ready to take another trophy at the 7/8-mile short track on Sunday. In fact, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse racers are a good bet for Iowa this weekend.
The latest betting odds from NASCAR.com advise sportsbook enthusiasts to keep an eye on the NASCAR Ford teams this weekend. Currently, Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 6 Mustang, is the only Blue Oval driver inside the top 10 in the point standings, but Ford has been on a tear lately. Three of the last five Cup Series races have gone to Ford racers, including the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro (won by Joey Logano’s No. 22 Mustang) and again at Gateway (won by Austin Cindric’s No. 2 Mustang).
“Ford has shown a lot of speed of late,” said Ed Salmons, VP of risk management at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas. We haven’t seen this kind of speed from Ford since maybe the championship race of last year. They kind of struggled [at the start of this season], but you saw the speed show up again at Darlington [won by Keselowski] and then definitely at Charlotte for some.”
He added, “At Gateway, Penske was the best Penske has been in like a long time. They were really good that day. So that’s definitely circled in our brain.”
Additionally, Keselowski participated in a tire test at Iowa in May, driving the No. 6 NASCAR Ford to gather data on Goodyear tires. That experience could help him out when the green flag drops on the Cup race, considering that many drivers in the division haven’t turned any laps at the racetrack in a Next Gen race car. He might be the best bet for this Sunday’s race – but we’ll only know for sure when the checkered flag waves.
