Lincoln Corsair Production Decreased In May 2024

As is the case with most vehicles these days, Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair production at the Louisville Assembly plant has experienced its fair share of ups and downs over the past few years, and especially in the months leading up to the launch of those refreshed models in 2023. This year, Ford Escape production dropped in April following several months of gains, but rebounded in May with a 25 percent month-over-month increase. However, that wasn’t the same fate that befell the Lincoln Corsair.

Lincoln Corsair production at the Louisville plant totaled 2,060 units in April, which was a rather substantial 1,460 units or 41 percent less than March’s total of 3,520. However, things didn’t improve in May, according to Ford’s latest sales report, as Corsair production declined yet again – this time, by a smaller margin of 71 units or around three percent, to 1,980 units.

Prior to that, Lincoln Corsair production had been on the rise since remaining largely flat in January at 3,035 units, which was an ever-so-slight decrease of just 28 units month-over-month, or a mere 0.9 percent versus December. In February, Lincoln Corsair production totaled 3,151 units, which was 116 units or around 3.8 percent higher than January’s total, and in March, output increased by 369 units or nearly 12 percent to the previously-mentioned total of 3,520.

In terms of updates, the 2024 Lincoln Corsair carried over completely unchanged for the new model year after the luxurious crossover was treated to its mid-cycle refresh in 2023, and it even retained its factory-installed SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, which wasn’t the case with the Escape, as that feature is now a dealer-installed option. Other than the addition of Race Red to its available exterior color lineup and the deletion of Cinnabar Red Metallic and Atlas Blue Metallic, the 2024 Escape remains mostly unchanged as well, however.

  • I am not surprised that sales of Corsair are declining. The BlueCruise version 1.3 was promised for 2023 Corsair Reserve in September of last year. It is nine months later and BlueCruise 1.3 for Corsair is still BlueVaporware.

    • I hear you! We bought a Corsair GT for the purpose of flat towing behind our motor home. Owners manual and service department confirmed it is flat towable but guess wha? Software is not working and no promises as to when. We are consulting a lawyer.

  • I test drove Corsair. The interior of the one I was in reminded me of something out of the 60s. It was quaint. I love keyless entry keypads on outside of vehicles. Had a couple of new Mercury's, back to back, in the past. Added a carriage top on one. Looked like a mobster wagon. The number of units produced gets my attention bc still waiting on my Nautilus. Will be my first one!

  • NOT a surprise. Lincoln, as a car brand, is struggling to survive. They have 4 SUVs. That's it. And the 'days on market' stats for the Corsair are awful. If you are not selling something, you would be nuts to be making more of it. Too bad, as I really like my 23 Corsair GTIII and will buy another. But I hear you when you talk about he lack of BlueCruise 1.3. Where is it? Why did we have to wait so long for the latest Sync versions? You gotta keep up or you will fall behind and perish.

  • I somewhat find this article unhelpful, since they only talk about production and not sales. When I read about the production fluctuations, I wonder whether it's due to parts availability or sales slipping. Unfortunately, we never seem to know that.

    I agree with the others about getting a BlueCruise update. I love BlueCruise in my 23 Corsair GT, but look very forward to getting some improvements! If mine does not receive an update in 2024, I will not be paying for the subscription when the time comes. I will be trading it for a Cadillac XT4 with Super Cruise, and hopefully a hybrid engine if it's available at that point.
