Lincoln Navigator Production Increased In May 2024

Production of the Lincoln Navigator – as well as the Ford Super Duty and Ford Expedition, which are built alongside each other at the Kentucky Truck plant – all faced plenty of adversity last fall after the United Auto Workers (UAW) walked out of that facility amid the union’s targeted strike. However, things quickly bounced back to normal after that situation was settled and assembly lines were humming along again. Through the first few months of 2024, Lincoln Navigator production remained largely flat, however, at least until it rose in April, and that was once again the case in May, too.

According to Ford’s May sales report, Lincoln Navigator production at the Kentucky Truck plant increased by 455 units or 25 percent, from 1,839 units in April to 2,294 last month. This continues a trend that started in April, when Navigator production increased by 225 units or right at 14 percent versus March’s total of 1,614. Prior to that, Navigator production had remained mostly flat through the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year.

That hasn’t quite been the case with the Ford Expedition, which saw its production totals increase in January, March, and February before declining in April and May. In fact, May’s total of 8,722 units is the large, mainstream SUV’s lowest production total of the 2024 calendar year thus far.

Meanwhile, both the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition are set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, as Ford Authority has covered extensively in recent months. Along with revised styling inside and out, that update is expected to bring about changes including a rear wiper blade relocation for the Navigator, plus a split liftgate, the addition of a full-width light bar up front, 24-inch wheels, and a coast-to-coast display inside the cabin.
