French rally driver Adrien Fourmaux currently races under the M-Sport Ford banner in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), and he’s backed by The Blue Oval through thick and thin both on and off the track. Not only does he race the Ford Puma Rally1, he often participates in special events to help promote the automaker’s line. Recently, he was able to check out the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Ford Bronco, and suffice to say, he was thoroughly impressed with both.
In a column published on DirtFish, Fourmaux recounted his experience in a special Ford event last month to launch the Mustang Mach-E Rally, a sportier variant of the electric crossover that was built to appeal to off-road enthusiasts. He was able to test the vehicle on a dirt course, and he was pleased with its performance.
“Mach-E is an amazing car, the performance, the acceleration is instant and really impressive,” he wrote. “We know how useful the battery can be from the boost we take from the electric in our hybrid Puma Rally1. I hadn’t driven these cars so much, so it was interesting for me to drive and understand the technology.”
After rallying the Mustang Mach-E for a few days, Fourmaux traveled to Las Vegas to take a slower approach to the terrain. This time, he was lent a Bronco, which he promptly took on a rock-crawling adventure.
“This was amazing,” he said of the rugged pony. “Like I said, the speed was very slow, but to see what the Bronco can get up and down was something completely different.”
When he’s not tooling around on dirt in a Bronco or a Mach-E, Fourmaux takes on the rally scene at a much faster pace, sometimes behind the wheel of a simulator to prep for on-track action. In April, he powered to a podium WRC finish in Sweden, although he didn’t do so great at Rally Sardinia, where his Puma experienced mechanical issues.
