NASCAR Ford Trucks Fade At Gateway 2024: Video

The Blue Oval led the field to green when Ty Majeski’s No. 98 Ford F-150 race truck started the race from the pole position at Gateway on June 1^st, 2024. While Majeski would go on to win both stages and lead 45 of 160 laps, he couldn’t make it stick at the end, and fell to fourth place at the line while a Toyota went on to win.

Corey Heim’s No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra claimed the lead on Lap 138, when he dueled Majeski for the top spot and ultimately pulled ahead of the No. 98 F-150.

“Corey was a little bit better, and I knew it,” said Majeski. “I thought if I could get track position on him, maybe I could hold him off. I threw it into Turn 1, and he cleared me off of 2, and I had a couple other opportunities.”

He added, “I got into him a little bit. Probably needed a little bit harder for me to get enough of a run to get side-by-side with him down the back. But, yeah, just a little bit short balance-wise. Sometimes when you’re the best truck in the beginning of the race, you’re gun-shy to make changes.”

Layne Riggs’ No. 38 NASCAR Ford finished fifth, right behind Majeski. Ben Rhodes’ No. 99 F-150 came home seventh, while Luke Fenhaus, driver of the No. 66 F-150, earned a 10^th-place finish.
