New Photos Suggest 2025 Lincoln Navigator Has Split Liftgate

As Ford Authority exclusively reported last week, the forthcoming, refreshed 2025 Ford Expedition will offer a split liftgate out back, which would consist of lower and upper sections, enabling users to lower the bottom portion like a tailgate, much like a pickup. This would allow owners to gain access to the rear cargo area without opening up the upper portion, similar to how the rear glass functions on the current model, albeit with a few added benefits. Now, it seems as if the 2025 Lincoln Navigator will offer the same sort of feature.

As we can see in these new photos, this 2025 Lincoln Navigator prototype is wearing a separate piece of black camo that’s independent of the black and white covering that adorns the rest of the vehicle. This strategically-placed piece seems to indicate that FoMoCo is hiding something unique underneath – such as a split liftgate, specifically.

Previously, it was unclear if the 2025 Lincoln Navigator would follow the Expedition by offering this new feature, but it makes perfect sense that it will, given the fact that those two SUVs share a platform and many other features. Additionally, prior to its debut, a number of refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 prototypes were spotted with extra camo in the very same spot, and as it turns out, that was being used to cover up the pickup’s brand new Pro Access Tailgate – which can be opened in the same manner as the Range Rover’s split tailgate. As we can see in this photo, the rear lighting will extend onto the liftgate, too.

In addition to this notable change, the 2025 Lincoln Navigator is set to receive a variety of updates as part of its refresh, including styling elements similar to those found on the redesigned 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. That list also includes a full-width light bar up front, 24-inch wheels, as well as a coast-to-coast display inside the cabin, a feature that has become increasingly common in luxury vehicles in recent years – including some Lincoln models sold in other countries, like the Zephyr, as well as the new Nautilus.

We’ll have more on the 2025 Lincoln Navigator soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Lincoln news, Lincoln Navigator news, and 24/7 Ford news coverage.

  3. I don’t what’s up with these guys. The SUV is practically perfect the way it is . Correction, the grill is practically perfect the way it is. Don’t mess with it. Eliminate any changes initiated by the now departed vp of design. He has – no – zero – 0 ,style. Leave well enough alone and add power and gadgets. Don’t touch styling. The Nautilus or whatever the Chinese’s Lincoln is looks like a 91 year old man designed it for himself
