1955 Ford F-100 Has Remained With The Same Family Since New

In the collector car world, one-owner vehicles have always been a bit more desirable than those that have lived with multiple people, which makes sense given the fact that single-owner models tend to be a bit better taken care of than those that been passed around a few times. However, in today’s world, we rarely see one-owner or single family-owned vehicles that are older than a decade or two. That isn’t the case with this 1955 Ford F-100, which is preparing to move on for the very first time in its long lifespan.

Single Family Owned 1955 Ford F-100 - Exterior 002 - Rear Three Quarters

This 1955 Ford F-100 is up for auction at Bring a Trailer, but it has remained in the possession of the same family since it was purchased new by the seller’s grandfather, in fact. It has lived its entire life in California as well, and reportedly remains in mostly stock condition – not a terribly common sight for a vehicle of this vintage. There are just 39k miles showing on the odometer, though it’s unclear if it has rolled over or not, but regardless, the first-gen F-Series hauler remains in stellar condition.

That certainly applies to the attractive Meadow Green paint, though a new set of Kontio Whitepaw Classic whitewall tires were added to the 15-inch steel wheels with hubcaps. The truck’s four-wheel drum brakes were recently replaced, and the seller changed the oil in its 223 cubic-inch “Cost Clipper” inline-six as well, which was factory rated to produce 118 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Otherwise, this 1955 Ford F-100 is a lesson in simplicity, with precious few amenities – just a heater and an AM radio, in fact.

It isn’t often that we see original first-generation F-Series pickups pop up for sale – let alone single-family owned models. In fact, most that surface for sale have been heavily modified, whether that be for show purposes, local car shows, or even SEMA. Thus, this stellar find is something truly special, and we imagine that its hammer price will reflect that fact, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
