During its heyday, the Ford Escort was an incredibly popular, economical mode of transportation, though it also gained a large enthusiast following over the years as well, thanks to its participation in things like rally racing. Today, even though the Ford Escort sold in large quantities over its existence, there just aren’t that many super-nice, low-mile examples left. However, this 1993 Ford Escort LX wagon somehow has just 400 miles on the clock, and it’s up for auction right now, too.
The incredible time capsule of a Ford Escort is live now at Bring a Trailer, and has already been bid up to nearly $10k in short order, as of this writing. However, it certainly isn’t often that we come across an Escort – or any vehicle of this vintage – with that sort of mileage total, so this one is truly special. It also remained in the possession of the original owner until this past February, meaning that they didn’t have a need to drive it much, if at all, for whatever reason.
Regardless of what prompted the owner to essentially sit on their Ford Escort for decades without driving it, the result is an amazingly well-preserved model finished in flawless Light Crystal Blue Clearcoat Metallic paint, coupled with an equally clean Opal Grey interior. The wagon even has a few amenities such as air conditioning, automatic front shoulder restraints, crank windows, and a factory AM/FM stereo, and is powered by the naturally-aspirated 1.9L I-4 engine that was originally rated to send 88 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
We haven’t seen a Ford Escort in this kind of condition – nor one with this low of a mileage total – in some time, save for a 1994 LX with 25k miles on the clock that popped up for auction last December. Thus, it’ll certainly be interesting to see what this gem sells for – though judging by the early interest, it will likely be an eye-opening sum.
We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Escort news and ongoing Ford news coverage.

When I recently saw a Buick GNX with virtually no miles on it, I could understand someone buying it and parking it. It was special and rare when it was produced and everyone knew it. It is easy to see why someone would park it for years, or some other exotic sportscar. But a Ford Escort wagon?! I do want to know the motivation of someone who saw it come off the line and thought, “yeah, I’m going to time capsule this baby for posterity.”
I guess there is an ass for every seat!
Well, since it is on the “bring a trustfund” money laundering site, it will sell for 4 times it’s actual worth
