2003 Ford Excursion Limited Up For Auction

Even though it was discontinued years ago, the Ford Excursion has arguably only grown in popularity since it vanished from The Blue Oval’s lineup, largely because there’s simply nothing else like it out there. Automakers just don’t build SUVs quite as large or as capable as the Ford Excursion these days, after all, which is basically just a utility version of the Ford Super Duty. As a result, Excursion values have skyrocketed in recent years, and now, this 2003 Ford Excursion Limited looks poised to keep that trend going.

2003 Ford Excursion Limited - Exterior 002 - Rear Three Quarters

This 2003 Ford Excursion Limited is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with 79k miles on the clock, but as we’ve seen time and time again, even SUVs of this type with higher miles tend to rake in big bucks these days. Regardless, this Mineral Gray Metallic example is selling with no reserve, and it remains in very nice condition with a few paint chips on the outside, along with the addition of a set of 16-inch Granite Alloy wheels wrapped with 265/75 Corsa Highway Terrain tires.

2003 Ford Excursion Limited - Interior 001

The same goes for the interior, which is trimmed in beige leather and features amenities such as heated power-adjustable front seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, a Kenwood touchscreen, cruise control, a Tekonsha trailer brake controller, and air conditioning. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 6.8L V10 Triton gas engine, which was factory-rated to produce 310 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox.

This Ford Excursion joins a long list of nice examples we’ve seen cross the auction block in recent months – a list that includes a 900-mile 2000 model, a 16k-mile 2003 Limited, a clean 2004 Eddie Bauer, and a modified 2005 Excursion with a mere 12k miles on the clock.

  2. David you don’t realize how much the full size Excursion Powerstroke is capable of. We can hook up a 12 ft dump trailer and pull it with ease, we can put our 8-ft plywood or sheetrock in the vehicle and take it to our cabin fully protected from the elements. Try to do that with a pickup. The trailer rental companies will not even rent you a dump trailer unless your vehicle is 3/4 ton rated as the tongue and towing capabilities are needed for a 3/4 ton. No other Ford or GMC SUV has the capabilities of the Ford Excursion. And they ride and drive just like your normal pickup. Ford absolutely needs to put this thing back out as it will be immensely popular and that is shown by the prices that the older Excursion still bring with the Diesels especially, and with the prices Excursion conversion companies get for their vehicles. An updated Ford Excursion would be immensely popular.
