While pretty much all Panther platform cars are sought after on the collector car market these days, one could make the argument that none are quite as collectible as the Mercury Marauder. The high-performance sedan does pop up for sale quite frequently, in spite of its relatively rarity, and remains a fan favorite, regardless. Now, yet another nice, low-mile Mercury Marauder has surfaced for sale, giving fans of big, V8-powered American sedans another solid target to bid on.
This 2003 Mercury Marauder is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer and has just 33k miles on the clock, though it has bounced around three states since it was sold new. Now on its third owner, the big sedan remains in stellar condition, regardless, and it’s one of around 11,000 produced over the special model’s two-year run – as well as one of just 178 that were finished in Silver Birch Metallic over Light Flint leather for 2003.
In fantastic condition inside and out – save for a couple of typical rock chips up front – this Mercury Marauder is equipped with a host of amenities that include heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats, automatic climate control, power-adjustable pedals, and the Audiophile sound system with a CD/cassette stereo. It’s powered by a fortified version of the Ford 4.6L V8, which was originally rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
This is just the latest nicely kept Mercury Marauder to surface for sale in recent months, however. That list also includes a pair of 2004 model year sedans we’ve spotted on the auction block as of late – one, with just 3k miles on the clock, and another with far more – 95k, in fact.

I had a 2003 recently but decided to sell it. I always wanted one since they came out as I loved the Panther cars and owned several over the years. The only thing about the Marauder is it falls short on power and desperately needs a supercharger to compete performance wise against many newer cars. Ford should have put one on from the factory ( aka Terminator Cobra) I always dreamed of this upgrade on mine but the 10k cost wasn’t in the budget. My recently purchased 2011 Mustang GT has solved my need for speed however!
If only this platform could have been updated to meet new crash standards…and then get the F-150 Ecoboost 3.5 and six speed trans. My 2020 375/470 3.5 10 speed setup in this car would run to 60 in the mid to high four seconds.
I’m a Ford Authority subscriber. I read with interest all Ford’s news. In reference to very nice Ford vehicles auctioned, they are all pristine looking and many with extremely low milage. I just wondered how is it possible to have so many old cars with many over 20 years old models low milage? Is there a segment of the vehicle enthusiast which purchased a car and saved for more than 20 years, basically driven one thousand miles per year? Just wondering
How much do you want for it?
