Today, the Ford Explorer Sport Trac is nothing but another interesting footnote in automotive history, but there are still plenty of folks out there that love the quirky SUV/pickup mashup. However, those looking for a nice, lower-mile example of the discontinued Ford Explorer Sport Trac don’t exactly have a lot to choose from, as we’ve only seen one pop up for sale recently – a 2010 model with a mere 38k miles on the clock that hit the auction block back in March. Now, it’s been joined by another clean Sport Trac, however.
This 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac is currently up for auction at Cars & Bids, and it’s a well-equipped example as well, with options including the Adrenalin Package, which added 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and 255/50 tires, along with the Limited Electronics Package, which consists of dual-zone air conditioning and the four-line message center. The seller has added LED headlights and fog lights as well, which pair with roof rails, a hard tonneau cover, and a bed extender on the outside.
Inside the cabin, this Explorer Sport Trac touts leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, a power-sliding rear window, and a CD player. The SUV/pickup was in an accident back in early 2017 that resulted in minor damage to the rear portion and left quarter, and it has some scratches and paint chips throughout the exterior, along with creases in the leather seats, but otherwise remains in solid condition.
Power comes from Ford’s naturally-aspirated 4.6L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to generate 292 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Now, this clean Ford Explorer Sport Trac is looking for a new home, though it’s unclear what kind of money it will take to make that happen in this no reserve auction.
