2024 Ford F-150 Retail Order Banks Close August 2nd

While production of the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 began months prior, deliveries didn’t begin until April, after The Blue Oval had built 144,000 examples of it and the redesigned 2024 Ford Ranger in Q1 alone. The reasoning for this delay stemmed from routine quality checks that – in the case of the 2024 Ford F-150 – uncovered an issue where modules did not shut off at night or were consuming more power than they should, though a software update corrected that problem. Regardless, those wanting to order a 2024 Ford F-150 won’t have much longer to do so.

According to a recent dealer letter seen by CarsDirect, retail order banks for the 2024 Ford F-150 are set to close in just over a week, in fact. “We are announcing the decision to turn off the ability to submit new retail orders for 24MY F-150 on August 2nd, 2024. This impacts F-150 gas and hybrid only,” the letter reads. This doesn’t impact dealer stock orders, but The Blue Oval did note that “dealer allocation and commodity constraints play a significant role in the ability to schedule customer retail orders.”

This news also comes on the heels of Ford’s decision to close Ranger Raptor order banks on July 31st, though that doesn’t apply to other models in the lineup, as is the case with the F-150. At least part of that decision stems from the automaker’s inability to secure enough parts for the high-performance off-road pickup, it seems, and at the moment, there are only around 500 units in dealer inventory across the U.S.

In the meantime, total 2024 Ford F-150 production in June came in at 51,203 units, which was 2,906 units or around 5.4 percent less than May. Prior to that, F-150 production had been on a steady upward trajectory in the 2024 calendar year, ramping up in March prior to the start of deliveries a month later before decreasing in April and bouncing back in May before June’s decline.
