2024 Ford Maverick Ranked Second In Initial Quality

Ford has been hard at work rectifying quality issues with its lineup, and it seems to have finally paid off. The entire 2024 Ford lineup has better initial quality than years past, which is good news for the 2024 Ford Maverick. In fact, the insanely popular pickup ranked second among its peers in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), meaning that Maverick owners are thus far satisfied with its quality.

The 2024 Ford Maverick was only outranked by a single rival: the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which is, coincidentally, its only rival in the compact pickup segment. Interestingly, the Maverick was lumped into the Midsize Pickup category for this award, and it outperformed the Nissan Frontier, which slotted in third place.

The 2024 J.D. Power IQS is based on responses collected from 99,144 purchasers and lessees of new 2024 model-year vehicles after 90 days of ownership. Its results are based on 227 different questions and relevant repair data across 10 categories. This includes infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; climate; and unspecified.

Critical findings from this year’s study revealed that technology is still a point of contention for new vehicles, as owners struggle with things like frustrating false warnings, issues with smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and in-vehicle controls.

The 2024 Ford Maverick joins several examples of its Blue Oval brethren with honors in this year’s study. The Ford Explorer also ranked second in its respective category; the Ford Edge ranked third in its segment (despite being on its way out); the Ford Bronco Sport topped the Small SUV segment this year, while Ford as a brand ranked above the mass market average, too.

  7. How long have cars/trucks been around, over 100 years now? And for some reason quality/staying out of the repair shop is as if they just learned how to build cars last year. This should be a flawless process by now. Unsat recruit! : )
