2025 Ford Escape Active Drops Standard Power Driver Seat

Though it was just treated to a pretty comprehensive refresh for the 2023 model year that gave the compact crossover a totally new look, the Ford Escape has also received a few other notable updates since then, too. This includes the upcoming 2025 model year, which has thus far brought forth quite a few deletions, with minimal additions. Now, the 2025 Ford Escape is set to lose another feature that was previously present on one specific trim, too.

That loss is the standard eight-way power driver’s seat in the Ford Escape Active, which was included with that particular trim for the 2024 model year. However, the 2025 Ford Escape Active now comes standard with a six-way manual driver’s seat instead. For the new model year, the only way Active customers can get a power driver’s seat in their crossover is by also opting for the Active Premium Tech Pack, which adds both a 10-way power driver’s seat and a six-way power passenger seat as well.

This is just the latest in a long line of deletions for the 2025 Ford Escape lineup, as Ford Authority has reported in recent weeks. The 2025 Ford Escape ST-Line is losing its aluminum foot pedals that were previously standard on all three ST-Line trims, while the the ST-Line Elite and Platinum are also ditching the previously-standard ambient lighting. For 2025, the ST-Line and ST-Line Select are also losing their monochromatic painted bodyside cladding, rocker panels, and bumpers in favor of molded-in-color components, though the ST-Line Elite does retain them.

The 2025 Ford Escape has also ditched its spare tire – at least in non-hybrid models – which no longer come with that part as standard equipment, and instead, The Blue Oval has gone back to equipping them with the Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit, though a spare is still available as an option for pure ICE models. Finally, rain-sensing wipers are no longer standard on the ST-Line Elite and Platinum trims, too. As far as exterior colors go, Space Silver Metallic has been added as a no-cost option for all trims, though Iconic Silver Metallic and Race Red have also been deleted.

  1. Ford needs to drop the Escape, and add a 2dr Bronco Sport, Ford also needs to drop the 1.5L ecoboost and only have the hybrid and 2.0L Ecoboost

    1. Then it would sell less than it already does.

  2. Removing content? How about adding content as a boost to resale value.

    1. Exactly! This is ridiculous. They are making this vehicle less competitive at a time when Chevy, GMC, and Buick all have new compact crossovers coming out, and Mazda still has the excellent CX-5 and 50. The current leadership at Ford and Stellantis are making too many bad decisions.

  3. Farley is afraid to compete in segments that are core volume segments, as those segments have plenty of high quality competitors. Without the volume of Fusion, Escape, and Edge… Ford’s fat overhead costs must be allocated to the backs of F-Series and Explorer. I wouldn’t be surprised to find similar decontenting on them in effort to try to offset the new overhead burden.

The reality is… if Ford isn’t making money of Focus, Fusion, Escape, and Edge… then Ford isn’t making all the profit that should be making on the other products like F-Series. It’s the same company with the same processes and suppliers.

This is a vicious downward spiral to oblivion.

    1. Yep. Bronco Sport isn’t making any money also, with a recent price drop. They are passing EV Pivot costs onto ICE, like many, when manufacturers like Toyota aren’t, resulting in losses for Ford when T makes big money on volume models. Farley needs to go but the stock price is up, so the Family could care less about anything else.

    2. Eventually all Ford will have left is the Mustang and Expedition. They will sell a grand total of 100 Mustangs and 50 Expeditions, but management will crow about what great margins they have!

I’m a long time Ford buyer, but I just don’t understand the decisions by this company.

  4. The Eacape is the only vehicle we will buy , it’s the only smaller SUV . With no decent colors and all the decontenting, cheap interior and lack of exterior color choices , we are looking at a Chevy Trax and Trailblazer as our next vehicles. Much better quality, and some nice exciting colors . After 40 years of Ford vehicles, this Ford salaried retiree is switching brands, and I will save 5-8000 over the crummy Z plan so called discount . Never buying a Ford again. Good riddance to Ford

    2. I agree. The TB is much smaller, however and overpriced like the Escape, with small discounts, like the Escape. Decontenting with no big price drop will just accelerate the Escape’s demise and parts availability will be an issues after 7-8 years. Like my Fusion is going through right now.

  5. Dropping the power seat was OK, but should not have deleted ambient lighting on the inside its a very useful feature.

    1. The exact reverse. Power seat kills the Escape immediately. And no spare tire tells everyone just how cheap it is. I could care less about lighting.

  6. Stupid idea to drop the power front driver’s seat as many senior citizens like small SUV vehicles and need a power driver’s seat because of their limited mobility! I bought a 2020 Escape with the power driver’s seat because of my wife’s limitations.

    1. Right on.

  7. Maybe they aren’t actually trying to tank sales of the Escape but I honestly don’t know what they would do differently if they were.

  8. Good idea Ford! Why stop there? You should also ditch power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and the radio.

  10. As long as the decontening is associated with a price reduction, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. But we all know that won’t be the case! It will likely be you get less stuff for more money. I can’t see how this will end well for Ford! I would expect more cross shopping and fewer Escape sales in the future as a result of this.

  11. Just kill the Escape now because this decontented mess won’t sell, especially with the ridiculous asking prices that this gen has always been loaded down with.

  12. All this talk and yet this manual driver’s seat is just for the Escape ACTIVE — the entry level model. You still get the 8-way power drivers seat standard in all the others: ST-Line, Platinum, etc…
